County Clare West Ireland
Located between the River Shannon and the Atlantic Ocean, County Clare fits the bill of what tourists expect and hope to see in Ireland. Known as "The Banner County", due to the involvement of the people of County Clare in the 1706 Battle of Ramillies, County Clare is steeped in history and tradition.
County Clare is renowned for it's landscape with the wild Atlantic on it's west side and the magnificent river Shannon on it's east side. The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher are located in this county and receive many visitors throughout the year. The town of Ennis is known as the music capital of the world and musicians throng from around the world in order to partake in the song and dance.
County Clare can be divided into three areas around the town of Ennis:
The Burren Region, considered to be one of the most unspoilt and spectacular regions of Ireland.
East Clare, reaching from Ennis town to the shores of the river Shannon.
West Clare, this beautiful region has many towns along the Atlantic coast and also the car ferry joining Clare to Limerick.
